Quick answer: Naprodox 50mg (doxorubicin) is an anthracycline chemotherapy used for breast cancer, lymphomas, leukaemias, sarcomas and many other cancers in adults and children. A nurse gives it into a vein at a hospital or chemotherapy unit. MedHub supplies it on prescription and delivers it in cold-chain packaging across Pakistan.

For patients and families

What is Naprodox 50mg?

Naprodox 50mg is a vial of doxorubicin made in Pakistan by Al Habib Pharmaceuticals (AHP). Doxorubicin has been a backbone of cancer treatment for decades. It enters cancer cells, binds to their DNA and blocks an enzyme called topoisomerase II, so the cells cannot divide and eventually die. Its deep red colour is why some patients call it the red chemotherapy.

What is it used for?

Oncologists and haematologists include doxorubicin in many treatment plans, for example:

  • Breast cancer, both after surgery and in advanced disease
  • Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma
  • Acute lymphoblastic and acute myeloid leukaemia
  • Bone and soft tissue sarcomas
  • Childhood cancers such as Wilms tumour and neuroblastoma
  • Lung, ovarian, bladder, stomach and thyroid cancers, and multiple myeloma

Lymphoma regimens often pair it with Crisvin 1mg (vincristine) or Bleocin 15 units (bleomycin).

How is it given?

Doxorubicin goes into a vein, either as a quick injection into a running drip or as a short infusion, usually once every three weeks as part of a cycle. Some patients receive it through a port or PICC line to protect the veins. Your doctor decides the dose based on your body surface area, blood counts and liver function, and keeps a record of the total amount you receive over time.

Common side effects

  • Hair loss on the scalp and body
  • Red-coloured urine for a day or two
  • Nausea, vomiting and mouth sores
  • Low white cells, with a higher chance of infection
  • Darkening of the nails or skin creases

Report straight away any fever above 38°C, pain or blistering at the drip site, shortness of breath, swollen legs or a pounding heartbeat.

Storage

Store the vial in the fridge at 2–8°C, in its carton to protect it from light. Do not freeze it. Your hospital pharmacy usually stores and prepares it. Find out how we keep medicines cold during delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What is Naprodox 50mg used for?

Naprodox 50mg treats breast cancer, lymphomas, acute leukaemias, sarcomas and several other cancers. Doctors almost always combine it with other chemotherapy medicines.

What is the Naprodox 50mg price in Pakistan?

Naprodox 50mg costs Rs 2,959 per vial. Prices can change with supply, so message us on WhatsApp for today’s price before you order.

Is Naprodox 50mg available in Lahore, Karachi or Peshawar?

Yes. We deliver chilled vials to Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Multan, Faisalabad and other cities across Pakistan.

Does Naprodox 50mg need a prescription?

Yes. Doxorubicin is a prescription-only chemotherapy. Send your oncologist’s prescription on WhatsApp, and our pharmacist checks it before we dispatch.

How is Naprodox 50mg given?

A chemotherapy nurse gives it into a vein, as a short drip or a slow injection into a running line, usually every three weeks. You stay at the unit for the treatment and go home the same day in most cases.

Will I lose my hair on Naprodox 50mg?

Most people do. Hair usually starts falling out two to three weeks after the first dose and grows back a few months after treatment ends. Many patients find a scarf or wig helpful in the meantime.

Why does my doctor check my heart during Naprodox 50mg treatment?

Doxorubicin can weaken the heart muscle once the total dose builds up. An echo or similar scan before and during treatment lets your doctor spot changes early and adjust the plan.

Can I order Naprodox 50mg for my parents from the UAE, UK or Saudi Arabia?

Yes. Share the prescription with us on WhatsApp, and we arrange payment and cold-chain delivery to your parents’ hospital or home in Pakistan.
